Intense Matchup Pefect End for Youth NFL Flag!

Tuesday, April 12, 2011 6:47 PM

It was how it was suppose to be. The two teams with the best records made it to the final game. The Championship. It was the rubber match. The Ravens thumped the Bears in week two 39-6. The following week the Bears mauled the Ravens 44-0. Everyone knew the game would be close. Both coaches tried to make adjustments based on the previous meetings. In the end the Bears, led By Owen Moon and team MVP Logan Brown, prevailed 26-20.

After the game, Bears Coach Tom Calvert said, "We feel very fortunate to win. We played an excellent Raider team earlier in the day who could have easily won the game but for a great play by Stuckey and Brown. I knew the Ravens and Coach Flood would make adjustments and the adjustments he made stymied our offense and defense. Once again, we won the game due to our team’s commitment to winning as well as the hard work all season. Hanson Stuckey's speed allowed us to keep the Ravens a little off balance. We are very happy to win and we had a lot of fun"

Coach Herb Flood also felt good about the season, “I’m proud of the effort put forth by my Ravens. These are 9 and 10 year old kids who learned a ‘no-huddle’ passing offense with multiple formations having multiple audibles called at the line of scrimmage. From day one they executed [the offense] to perfection with absolutely no confusion. Our quarterback (Christopher Flood) did a great job with reading the defense and delivering the ball on target. He made a number of throws that were absolutely perfect! And JR Chou and JP Sutherland both made several circus-type catches…the kind of catches that kids their age just cannot make…but they did! I was really proud of our kids after the game.”

Congratulations to both teams on a great season!  Register today for the next NFL Youth flag league!
